Class Experience

We've almost all heard the saying, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." But we know how hurtful words can be. In this one-time class, students will learn how mean words can affect and hurt us on the inside. We will learn that it's important to show kindness at home with our families, at school, and everywhere we go! I will do a hands-on activity that shows the effects of hurtful words. We will focus on how kindness makes us feel. Students will learn what kindness means and what it looks like. Please bring some paper and crayons or markers along to class so we can show what kindness looks like in our lives. We will have time in class for discussion of how students can show kindness to those around them. Students will be given a kindness calendar to complete at home after class using the ideas we discussed together. (The kindness calendar will be sent to parents upon completion of class to print and use at home.) We could all use more kindness in our world today! I hope you will join me to spread kindness around to others because kindness DOES matter!
Learning Goals
