Class Experience
My goal for your child will be to spark an interest in another language- in this case German. I want them to be able to learn some basic greetings, common words and numbers 1-10. My favorite way to teach is through artwork, so if I teach a child a new language vocabulary word and they can now draw it, we have tapped into multiple facets of their brain and creativity. If they draw a cat in class and can show daddy this is “katze” I think that’s awesome. To sing their little alphabet song to their parents when at dinner, or show mommy how they can count in German. So each week we will learn something about the German language. Since this is the beginner class it will truly be to gain a taste for learning another language - so the first week/day we learn a few basic greetings, Hello, Goodbye - and replies Yes, No. The following week we will try counting to 1-10 - with a nice song. The third week we will introduce some family words - such as mommy, daddy, grandma and grandpa. Finally we will learn a few pet words and listen to the alphabet song together. Ultimately my goal would be to create a desire for them to want to learn more, this also gives parents a chance to see if their child is inclined to do more. Sometimes it’s not the right time - so four classes is an opportunity to see if they’ve acquired a taste for learning a new language. These young years are still so formative and impressionable so I believe it’s the prime time to introduce a new language. If they develop a desire to continue learning I recommend the next course Kinderplatz 1 where they will learn even more vocabulary and use of German.
