In this one time class, we will listen to a wonderful story called "The Snatchabook". I have read this story before in my original Storytime Plus class and it was such a hit with my learners that I decided to bring it back as its own class. In addition to reading the story, we will review some print concepts, answer some questions about the story (reading comprehension) and discuss a few story elements (characters, setting, problem and solution or retelling). Every child loves to have stories read to them! I am adding an extra layer of reading readiness into this class to help begin (or continue) your child's love for reading!

* understand that authors use story elements to create stories
* comprehend what they are reading (listening to) in order to become better readers

My name is Melissa Goebel and I am so excited to teach at Outschool! have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I am a certified teacher who has a passion for teaching Pre-K - 1st grade. I taught Kindergarten for 12 years in public school and for the past 3 years, I've taught virtually as well as in person at a homeschool co-op. I love teaching virtually and I have fun and creative ways to make learning fun and engaging online.
I live in Tampa Florida with my amazing husband and we are proud parents of a 13 year old boy named Jaden and a 10 year old boy named Justin who are both in middle school. We enjoy spending time in the water, at the beaches and in the natural springs found throughout our sunny state of Florida.
I am truly looking forward to continuing my love for all things Pre-K through 1st grade online and I can’t wait to meet your child!
