Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am Mrs. Anne Ladd Welch,

I am a licensed and highly qualified Kindergarten - 8th grade English Language Arts and Math teacher. I have 23 years’ experience in the classroom. My first 14 years were spent in kindergarten, and for the last 9 years, I have been a K-2nd grade looping teacher. I start a class in Kindergarten and I am their teacher through 2nd grade. These experiences allow me to have an in depth understanding of the K, 1st, and 2nd ELA and Math standards.

I am thrilled to share with you and your child the many advancements in the cognitive science of reading. NOW, more than any time ever before, we know more about how to teach children to read. There is a clear science to teaching reading.

Children must be explicitly and systematically taught Reading Foundational Skills along with Knowledge Based Social Studies and Science lessons.

Reading Foundational Skills classes could include concepts of print, phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, phonics, spelling, and fluency.

I am offering a private assessment session where I will administer a foundational skill assessment. This will allow me to structure lessons around your child’s individual needs.

Along with Foundational skills, I will also offer knowledge-based lessons that are based on Next Generation Science Standards and C3 Framework for Social Studies. These lessons will help students create meaning from text. Students will gain language comprehension by focusing on vocabulary, gaining background knowledge, oral language, and reading comprehension skills.

My knowledge, training, and experience working with these advancements in the science of reading in the public-school setting will allow me to help your student using the most recent research-based strategies.

These are exciting times in education. Online classrooms and implementing the scientific advancements in reading instruction while getting rid of the "old" methods and misconceptions that have held students back for decades.

This is a very personal endeavor for me. My child struggled with reading during his early years in school. He has eventually enrolled in an online format to complete high school. It was one of the best decisions our family has made for him. His struggles in the traditional school setting give me my drive and passion to help you.

I am embarking on day 1 of online teaching. Whether you are looking for on grade level instruction, enrichment, or remediation. I want to work with you. I hope you will join me.

Please message me if you have any questions about how I can meet your child’s needs.

I look forward to working with you and your child.
