Kindergarten Reading Prep From the Alpaca Farm: ABC's and First Sight Words

In this 6-week course, students will become familiar with reading and writing the letters of the alphabet, beginning sight words, and practice reading short sentences with the assistance of the alpacas, incorporating many farm features.

Class Experience

Students will begin in week 1 learning the letters presented for the week as well as the words listed below. They will practice their letters and words in a series of sentences that include pictures to replace more advanced words. There will be word games to help solidify their foundation of learning during class and practice sheets to work on after class.

Goals for this class are to familiarize the learner with the ABCs and first sight/high frequency words to make kindergarten to help make the rest of their kindergarten experience enjoyable.

As a reading teacher for kindergarten to 5th grade students, I find a foundation to the ABCs and early sight words helps the learner enjoy their kindergarten experience more and helps to instill a love of reading and learning in them.

There will be printable pages given each week for use at home but not required to be completed.
