US Grade Kindergarten
Is your child currently in kindergarten? Do you want your child to be confident when they move on to first grade? If so, then this class may just be the right fit for your learner! I would love for you to join me each week as we explore and practice early literacy concepts found in a kindergarten classroom. This class is engaging and interactive. Students will be engaged from beginning to end by actively participating, playing games, and completing interactive activities during class. Your learner will be engaged in fun, hands-on activities to explore and practice various literacy concepts needed to have a successful start in first grade. You will watch your child's confidence grow before your eyes! This is an ongoing class; therefore, you can join or leave at any time that works for you and your schedule. You will only be charged for one week at a time. Subscriptions renew on Sundays. You can cancel at any time as you see fit; therefore, you are not committed to taking this course. Each section will meet once a week. The classes will not build upon each other. Each week will include interactive handouts or materials needed for activities that will help your learner by being hands-on and engaged throughout the lesson. I will post all needed materials and supplies each week in the classroom the day before class. All materials needed will be items commonly found in homes. If you ever do not have something, please let me know and we can work something else out. Again, if you do not have access to a printer, please let me know. I am VERY flexible. Your learner can always just bring a piece of paper or dry erase board to class. Each class will be full of various literacy concepts needed for a solid foundation in reading; however, there will be a main focus each week. March 16th - NO CLASS SCHEDULED March 23rd - Short I Words ; Segmenting Sounds March 30th - NO CLASS SCHEDULED April 6th - NO CLASS SCHEDULED April 13th - Short O Words; Magic E Words (CVCe) April 20th - Short U Words; Medial Sounds April 27th - NO CLASS SCHEDULED

Hi! My name is Emily. I have been married for 7 years. We have two precious boys. I have had a passion for teaching since I was a little girl. I was the kid that lined up her dolls and gave them homework.
I received my B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Gordon College in 2012. I received my M.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College in 2015. I have 7 years of formal classroom experience. I spent 1 year teaching in Pre-K and I taught Kindergarten for 6 years. I am currently an online ESL teacher to students across the world.
My number one goal is for my students to leave my classroom feeling more enriched than when they entered. I believe learning should be relevant and fun. I am a huge believer in play-based learning. I believe hands-on learning sparks creativity and enriches the imagination. I have a passion for teaching beginner math and literacy skills. I enjoy teaching around themes that are interesting and make students excited about learning.
I offer a wide variety of classes. My classes will teach and enhance beginner math and literacy skills, while also sparking the imagination through intentional play. I love to incorporate crafts, songs, movement, and even edible "crafts" to make learning more concrete. My classroom will always be inviting, interactive, and engaging.
