Beginner Level
Kindergarten Readiness Class will review writing, sounds & sight words necessary for kindergarten readiness. Incoming kindergartners are expected to know their sounds, letters, and sight words. Sight words are also known as high-frequency words or red words. Most of them cannot be sounded out which is why they are called sight words. Fluent readers recognize most high-frequency words quickly, allowing them to focus on the meaning of the text. Approximately 300 sight words make up 65% of all words in texts. Quick recognition of these words during the early years forms the foundation of fluent reading. Automatic recognition of sight words will greatly improve reading fluency and comprehension. In this class, we will review and practice 5 sight words, writing, sounds identification, and phonics. Students will actively practice as a group and individually, complete their letters, sounds, and sight word practice while engaging with highly interactive learning content and their teacher. This class is designed with emergent readers in mind. Let's learn and have fun!
