Kindergarten Readiness Sight Word Flex Class: 4 Weeks

Please note that as this is a FLEX class, no live meetings will occur. I  will post a prerecorded videos in the classroom every Monday  at noon reviewing sight words. 

Learning sight words is a critical skill for kids to learn how to read! To give your preschooler/Kindergartner a great jump start to reading, I have come up with fun, interacting, hands-on ways that you can teach your preschooler/kindergartner sight words!

In this four week flex class, student will learn 20  new sight words. A video will be posted on Monday at 12 introducing the sight words for the week. A worksheet  or a activity will be posted in the classroom on Monday, Wednesday and Friday to help learners practice with sight words.  Instructions on how to complete the activity or worksheets will be posted in the class room. The video  posted on Monday will be 15-30 minutes in length.  Please take a picture or video of the learner completed assignment then post it in the classroom. Your learner will interact with me and the other learners using the classroom page. This flex class will meet the needs of various learners such as tactile-Kinesthetic , visual, and auditory.

Week 1:
Monday Video introducing  (pre- primer sight words)

Monday  sight word activity: sight word painting
Wednesday  sight word activity: sight word collage(students will pick one word and create a collage)
Friday sight word activity:Students will play  sight word bingo, as I pre-record a video, calling out various sight words at random. Students will use a provided worksheet 

Week 2:
Monday video introducing (Cvs sight words)

sight word activity: 
Monday sight word activity: Monday sort sight words by (how many letters)
Wednesday Use dough to spell out sight word
Friday: Let's read a sentence worksheet

Week 3
Monday video introducing (Number sight words)

Monday sight word activity: unscramble worksheet(worksheet will be posted in classroom)
Wednesday sight word activity: cut out letters from a magazine to spell sight words
Friday word activity: hunt for sight words in your favorite book.

Week 4:
Monday video introducing (color sight words)

Monday sight activity: sort sight words by the number of letters (worksheet will be posted in classroom)
Wednesday sight word activity: complete sight word sentence worksheet
Friday word activity:create a sight word craft
 

Students will learn 20 new sight words. A certificate will be given on the last day of class.

Bonus: Students will be given access to a Boom learning  digital task cards for two week. Boom learning digital task cards are digital, self checking task cards. Students can use boom learning task cards on a desk top, ipad or phone. Parents can also track students progress on identifying sight words when using boom learning digital task cards.
