Learners will increase their knowledge of the alphabet, letter sounds, and begin to put sounds together to make simple words. Learners will also increase their knowledge of numbers, counting, shapes, and patterns. They will also practice social/emotional skills such as learning to identify a variety of emotions, practicing turn taking, practicing active listening, and learning to respond to the teacher and their peers.
No homework will be assigned. However, I will post a list of developmentally appropriate activities that can be done at home each week to support your child's school readiness skills. Families can choose to do one or more of the activities with their learner. Activities can be done with household materials and will take 10-20 minutes per activity chosen. Learners are welcome and encouraged to share pictures or videos of the extra activities they do in the online classroom under that week's activity sheet.
Learners should have paper and pencils available for class. I will supply an activity sheet each week that contains additional activities that can be done at home to support your learner’s school readiness development.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
