Kindergarten Math: Intro to Addition and Problem Solving (5 Week Flex Course)

This 5 week Flexible Schedule course can be completed on your schedule! An excellent complement to a homeschool curriculum, tutoring course for your Kinder or First Grade student, or get your PreK student ready for the next stage in math development. In person school? For the next 5 weeks, we will discuss different ways to compose a whole number or join sets together to make a different number. Each week will include:
	-hands on games with materials and video tutorial
	-guided problem solving video with printable ‘Problem Solving Map’
	-interactive game using NearPod
        -video of composing mini lesson and digital composing anchor chart

Composing Strategies by week:
Week 1: Part/Part/Whole
Week 2: Subitizing
Week 3: Dice and Dots
Week 4: Number Sentences
Week 5: Ten Frames

The classroom experience will be highly interactive! The teacher engage in feedback conversations based on work submitted via the classroom page by the student. The student can submit completed games and weekly problem solving activities by picture, video or comment on the class page. Using NearPod activities, once completed, the teacher will receive an analysis of student performance and provide direct feedback to the student. Weekly extension questions will be posed by the teacher and students will also have the opportunity to create there own story problems! Fellow classmates will be challenged to solve their peers questions in the discussion.

Students will receive all materials and media needed to complete the weekly units on Monday mornings. Students will be encouraged to submit videos, pictures or comments via the Outschool classroom page. The teacher will provide feedback tailored to each student's work within the classroom page by providing specific ‘glows’ and ‘grows’.  

The student should recognize numerals 0-10, be able to build sets up to 10 and count to 10 by ones independently.
