Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten
Beginner Level
In these recurring 1:1 tutoring sessions, students will be taught Kindergarten Common Core Math Standards with a Singapore Math approach, while keeping a nature focus. Parents can voice their concerns of skills they would like covered. I will also assess what skills need reinforcing for students to ensure no gaps are present. This class will be student led, responding to student needs as they arise in our discussions. Fun nature projects or crafts will accompany math lessons once a week, incorporating thoughtful and meaningful exercises that help students practice math in real-world situations. Movement, hands-on manipulatives, and music will be included. All materials will be intentionally chosen items that are likely sitting around your house or in the recycling bins/waiting for the trash. No required experience is needed. Topics Covered: -Counting to 100 by ones and tens -Addition and Subtraction within 5 (to fluency) -Writing numbers correctly 0-20 -Number Bonds (decomposing and composing numbers) -Real world problems (nature-based, student responsive) -Knowing the "Make a 10" Fact Family -Visual, kinesthetic, auditory sense involved in activities for each topic
Learning Goals
Students will count to 100 by ones and by tens.
Students will count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
