Students will improve their recognition of letters, sounds, sight words and calendar skills.
I have taught both kindergarten and first grade for 6 years so I have a great understanding of how children learn during this very important time in their education. As a looping teacher I follow my class from kindergarten to first grade so I am very skilled in teaching beginning letter sounds, phonics skills, and beginning reading strategies. I hope to help your child learn and grow with my knowledge in childhood literacy!
- A whiteboard and marker will be useful for writing our sight word in each class but this can also be done with a blank piece of paper and a crayon. - A show and tell item that matches the letter of the week to share at the end of class- if you are brining something to class, please have it ready for your learner to grab. We will not have time in class for each student to leave their screen and go searching for something so it will be helpful to have it sitting beside them! This is optional.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Thank you to Jack Hartmann, The Signing Walrus, and Tara West for permission to teach with their materials!
