US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
This class is designed to supplement parents teaching Kindergarten at home. In addition to providing a social environment for children, students will get lessons from a certified teacher. Miss Sara will provide weekly information to families as well to support learning at home. This class will not include everything in Kindergarten, but will include many of the big concepts that are often challenging to teach. I will teach social studies, science, reading, math, and social skills mini lessons. Most days each class will include a reading lesson, social studies or science lesson, and math lesson. Exceptions will be made if a subject needs more time. On the first day of the week of classes, students will be introduced to new letters and/or words to practice in class and at home. I use powerpoints to teach students, but I try to keep my Kindergarteners moving. I may ask you child to get up and get something or get up and do a motion. This is because younger children need to move. Usually after a 30 second break, students are ready to learn again. For example, if we are talking about circles, I may ask students to see if they can find a circle. I like to include all students in the discussion. Please show your child how to mute and unmute. Sometimes there can be background noise, so I mute so that everyone can hear. First few weeks schedule... more to come.
