US Grade Kindergarten
In this fast paced class, our students will be engaged and learning, while at the same time they will be having fun! Kindergarten course classes include literacy, phonics, handwriting, math, science, and art. The class is structured and the same each week, so students become comfortable with repetition, and know what to expect. ~ Language Arts- They will learn basic sentence structure and punctuation, writing both upper and lower case letters. They will learn how to use questions words, common nouns and prepositions. We will have a writers workshop, and a readers workshop later in the year. ~ Math- In kindergarten math, students learn the names of numbers and how to count them in sequence. They begin to become familiar with numbers 11–19. They should also be able to count objects and begin an introduction to geometry by learning to recognize and name shapes such as triangles, rectangles, circles, and squares. Kindergarteners begin to learn the concepts of addition and subtraction, respectively, as "putting together and adding to" and "taking apart and taking from,". In addition to math and language arts, which are a major focus of kindergarten, children also learn science, social science, and usually art, music, health and safety, and physical education. Socialization skills, such as taking turns, waiting to be called on by the teacher, and being kind to others, are also emphasized in my class. We will play games together, see video clips, read together, and have discussion about the topics. I will make sure that all my students have a turn to talk, and share.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to write a sentence, how to read CVC and CVCe words, how to read sight words. They will count up to 30 (and even up to 100 by end of school year! ) (Maybe further depending on the class aptitude), identify common shapes, and learn basic math skills. They will learn socialization skills, confidence, and how to have a discussion.

Supply List
Supply List Pencils crayons safety scissors glue paper wide-ruled notebook or pad assorted construction paper washable markers plastic folders Your student will receive extension work in pdf files each day/week that they can work on to build understanding and fine motor skills. You will most likely need to help them with cutting at first, and we will practice with our gluing. Most of these files would be used in a traditional kindergarten, and I would have had them prepared. But because it is a zoom class, I will need you to be my helper. :) I will be including art projects throughout the year, and will let you know the materials needed. It is optional, and you can always find a substitute if you don’t have an item on the list. Please let me know if you have any questions!
4 files available upon enrollment

Hello! My name is Dina, and I am excited to have you here! First and foremost, I am a mama to 4 kidlings. Most are grown and 3 have left the nest, but I have 1 left at home. I love teaching kids. I love the "aha" on a child's face when they understand a new concept. I love the personalities that I come across. I have been teaching English online for several years to children ages 3-16. I have also been a preschool teacher for over 20 years.
If I could have had another career, I might have been a librarian, because I LOVE reading! Reading is one of my favorite hobbies!
Some of my other hobbies include hiking, gardening, my pets, and cooking!
I believe in finding the spark of curiosity that lives in every child, and encouraging it to grow. I hope to inspire my students through engagement with reading, learning, cooking, a positive mindset, play and laughter.
When I am not teaching classes I am a wedding officiant! I get to marry people~ which is so rewarding and special. :)
I have an ECE degree, a Bachelor of Arts, and a Masters in Business, and a Doctorate in Divinity. I also have my TESOL and TOEFL certifications.
I hope you will be inspired to have a class with me, and I am hopeful your child will have as much fun with me, as I plan to with them!
See you in the classroom!
Sincerely, Dina
