Class Experience

Students will feel like a superhero as they learn all the skills they need to fly into kindergarten. This class will teach your student letters, hand writing, early literacy, and technology. I will teach your student the proper way to hold a pencil and improve their handwriting. Students will be amazed as they simply learn to write and form simple sentences. Reading and sounding out super words will feel more like a superpower. Give your student the opportunity to expand their imagination through technology based learning! All technology that I will be using, I have been trained to use and have used in every kindergarten classroom I have worked in. Week one: Will cover the introduction to the course, identifying letters visually and their sound, identifying several objects that start with each letter, start writing letters with A-D Week two: Go over the week before, learn to write letters E-L, focus on hand writing Week three: go over the week before, learn to write M-T, improve hand writing tools Week Four: learn to write U-Z, improve hand writing, introduce the next two weeks(sight words) Week five: Go over all letters visually, learn three letter sight words through visual, interactive, and paper worksheets, focus on hand writing and spelling Week six: go over previous words, learn new four letter sight words, focus on hand writing and spelling, end the class and look all that we have accomplished!
I will provide worksheets and coloring pages that parents can use to help their student continue their learning. However, they do have to turned into me, unless your student wants to show me their progress. I am always proud of each of my students and the work they complete. Active learning should be set different for each individual student. I will have occasional online and interactive worksheets that your student will need to turn in to me, so I can formally assess their learning. I will be glad to provide as much materials for you to be active in your student's learning outside of the classroom.
I will supply the worksheets before each class, they will need to be printed off before each lesson Crayons White paper Pencil with an Eraser An eager attitude For websites that require log ins or passwords, I will be giving your student those as we work through learning how to use each one! You will not have to pay for any website that I have your student use! If a certain lesson needs a different website or different materials, parents will be notified in advance!
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
I will use both formal and informal assessment. Formal assessment will be achieved by each student reaching the CCRS Content Standards that I have attached to each of my lesson plans. Informal assessment will be achieved by the student participating in class activities and their level of effort.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
