Class Experience

***NEW SUMMER TIME SLOTS OPEN NOW! This class is Monday-Thursday and each class will be 30 minutes long! We will be learning/reviewing all standards taught in Kindergarten to prep for 1st grade! We will be playing Kahoot in class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students will need a second device to play the review game in class or they can use the printable Kahoot cards to hold up their answer choices (which I will post before the first day of class). I’ve used Kahoot in other Outschool classes and the kids love it!***

📣 Calling all Kindergarteners! Come and join me in this fun & interactive ongoing Kindergarten class! 📣

This ongoing class will cover EVERYTHING your learner needs to know before 1st grade!

This is an ongoing class so you can join at any time! :)

I also give parents a weekly PDF with a TON of worksheets, activities, links to read-alouds, educational videos, and more to extend our in-class learning!

We will cover the following skills/standards each week:

⭐️ Phonics (VC words, CVC words, CVCC words, blends, digraphs, rhyming words, segmenting, blending, and identifying syllables in words). We are working on reading simple words and sentences in this class.
⭐️ Weekly Sight Word Practice
⭐️ Math (identifying numbers, counting, adding, subtracting, skip counting, shapes, place value, time)

🗒 A few important things to note about my class 🗒

⭐️ Class worksheets are given for learners to print and complete during class. However, you can always use a whiteboard or blank paper at home if printing is not an option. Crayons, markers, or colored pencils are helpful to have on hand during class time.

⭐️ At times, my classes highlight holidays. For example, we have holidays pointed out on our daily calendar time and one of our sharing activities for the month of March was (If a leprechaun gave me 5 wishes, I would wish for...). I am inclusive to all types of holidays and celebrations. We also will sing to students on their birthdays.

⭐️ I will mute all students when needed to minimize background noise. Please make sure your learner either knows how to mute/unmute or I ask that you sit with them during class so they are able to share when it's their turn. It's so sad to see learners get frustrated when they cannot unmute themselves. From the teacher side of Zoom, we can only "ask to unmute" but the student will have to click the button to actually unmute themselves.

⭐️ I gently encourage my students to raise their hand or use my class signal cards (available to print on our weekly assignment PDF) to signal that they have a question or want to share something with me or the class. I want to make sure every student gets a chance to be heard and share their thoughts while still maintaining a structured and calm classroom environment.

📚 Here is a breakdown of my class each day📚

✏️ Tuesday (Kahoot Game Day)- As a class, we will play a fun, interactive game of Kahoot (website or app that allows students to select their own answers to teacher-made questions. Students can either play the game from a second device (smart phone, tablet, etc.) or use the printable Kahoot game cards (available for download upon enrollment) and students can hold up their cards to answer questions. Extensive directions for how to play and log in will be given each week so students know exactly what to do :)

I will incorporate songs and movement whenever possible to allow each learner to get their wiggles out! I also encourage social interactions in my classes and will gently encourage students to participate in our daily "Brain Break" times where students can share their answers to our discussion questions or answers to our "Search & Find" activities!

I love to incorporate student interests into each of my classes so be sure to fill out the Google Form (posted in the classroom once enrolled) and I will try my very best to incorporate your child's interests in our classes! :)

Throughout our ongoing class, students will learn all of the standards taught in Kindergarten. With a background in Special Education, I strive to meet each student's individual needs, which is why I have questions on my parent Google Form (same form as mentioned above) that will allow me to best meet the needs of your learner.

I am so excited to meet your learner in my class! Please let me know if you have any questions :)
