Welcome to Kindergarten! Get ready for an interactive learning adventure! All of my class sizes are small in order to allow each learner to fully participate during class. In this ongoing class, we will focus on Kindergarten learning objectives using songs, group activities, hands-on activities, manipulatives, projects, work sheets, sharing, crafts, games and our monthly themes. Each month will include an interactive theme focusing on Kindergarten objectives. During the first week of class, you will receive a Kindergarten learning objective checklist. You can use this checklist to track skills mastered during class. I will also supply many additional (optional) activities you can do at home. I will help you organize all of our learning material to set your learner up for success! Every Sunday, I will post the weekly theme, supplemental activities, and a list of any supplies we may need that week. (Most of these are things you can easily find around the house.) I will also send classroom updates on Thursdays. These updates will include objectives we have learned, as well as optional at home activities to reinforce the class objectives. I will also provide many additional at home activities to support our objectives. CLASS OUTLINE: **Our class will follow a consistent daily routine. Routine is important for young learners. This predictability helps build confidence. All learning objects (new and review) are weaved into the class. My class size is small in order to allow sharing, discussion, conversations, friendships, and community. All learners are actively engaged.** *Greeting: We will begin each class by singing our class “Hello” song with our special friend, Ziggy. *Morning Meeting / Daily Notebook Activity: Our daily notebook activities include: Calendar, Weather, Days of the Week, Months of the Year, Numbers, Letters, Handwriting, Patterns, Graphing, Colors, Shapes, Time, Money, and Sight Words. *Daily Objectives: Objectives will be mastered through songs, group activities, hands-on activities, manipulatives, projects, work sheets, sharing, crafts, games and our monthly themes. We will incorporate additional science, math, and literature activities focused around the objectives. I will provide many fun, hands on activities to help develop both fine and gross motor skills. Most weeks will include an in class science experiment that learners can do along with me or observe. After class I will include a step by step outline of the experiment for you to try at home, in case you weren’t able to participate during class! (If you choose.) *We will complete our learning adventure each day by singing our “Good-bye” song with our special friend, Ziggy. The smaller class size is designed to create a more individualized experience for students. Please feel free to contact me with any specific needs or special requests. I want to support all of my students in the best way possible. ***Socialization is a very important part of early childhood development. With a small class size, students have more opportunities for sharing. They also learn to take turns and be active listeners. (For these reasons, I will not mute students unless there is a great deal of background noise or a situation that is distracting to our class.) Let's play, have fun and learn! Teacher Teri **I will continue to update our monthly themes. They will be incorporated into our daily activities - both in class and optional at home enrichment. This is subject to change based on time and student needs. ***FALL AND SPRING SCHEDULE 2023 - 2024*** September: All About Me October: Pumpkins, Pumpkins **Halloween Week! Hello!
Greetings from Atlanta, Georgia! My name is Teri Delvac. I am a Georgia certified teacher and I have been working in the field of Education for over 25 years. I have a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Mercer University. After college, I spent several years working with young children in preschool and elementary school. I had the unique opportunity to own and operate a private early childhood school. I developed the school's curriculum for both the kindergarten and pre-kindergarten classes. After earning my Master's Degree, I taught elementary school age students. During this time, I served on the curriculum team where I continued my passion of curriculum development. I also earned my English as a Second Language Endorsement. I worked with ESL students in my classroom, and also began working with adult learners. I have taught English to students online for the last five years. I also homeschool my own two children. I have used my experience in the classroom and as a curriculum designer to create an interesting, engaging, and complete curriculum for them throughout the years.
I love developing hands-on, student centered lessons. I strive to create a warm and inviting classroom environment where children feel safe to ask questions, try new things, and even make mistakes! This is how we all learn and grow. Life is full of opportunities when we have the confidence to try. Learning truly opens up the world.
When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family. I have two amazing children. My son is 17 and my daughter is 14. We like to travel, explore new places and play board games. (Catan has been our favorite family game for the last few years!) I also love animals. We currently have three dogs and one cat.
I am very excited to share my passion for learning with your child. Let's go on a learning adventure together!
