Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten
Welcome to Circle Time with Mrs. Tricia! This class is designed to be a fun filled, interactive class that gets your learner moving while practicing kindergarten readiness skills through high-interest weekly themes (such as pirates, dinosaurs, and fairy tales). Each week learners will practice a variety of skills in class including letter recognition, beginning phonics, sight words, reading and writing simple sentences, shapes, colors, counting, and simple addition and subtraction.

=======================
Days 1 & 2
=======================
*Circle Time*
-Welcome Song
-Introduce weekly theme and letter of the week.

*Writing Time*
-Introduce the letter of the week and its sound
-I will show learners how to properly form letters. We will practice writing together and then learners will have a few minutes to practice writing on their own.
-Rhymes will be used to help learners remember how to properly form their letters

*Math Time*
-Each day we will practice counting out loud. We will integrate movement as time allows.
-Depending on our weekly theme, learners will also be exposed to other math skills such as completing and extending patters, identifying shapes, identifying colors and simple addition/subtraction.

*Reading Time*
-Learners will be introduced to our sight word of the week and use a song to help us practice spelling it. During class learners will have an opportunity to read and create sentences using a simple sentence frame that highlights our weekly sight word.

=======================
                Day 3
=======================
*Review Concepts*
-The last class of the week will be reserved for reviewing the concepts we have practiced throughout the week. Learners will review through discussion, games, and movement activities as they relate to our weekly theme.

*Show and Share*
-Learners are invited to bring one item to class to share with us that relates to our weekly theme or the letter of the week.

=======================
            Extra Practice
=======================
Each week I will upload a packet of extra practice worksheets for you to use outside of class to continue practicing the skills that we have been working on in class.

=======================
       Muting During Class
=======================
Please make sure that your learner knows how to mute/unmute themselves prior to class. I prefer to keep all learners unmuted to add an interactive element to class. However there may be times that learners may be muted during class to minimize background noise and facilitate direct instruction.
