Kindergarten Art Studio will start in Sept 2024 and go through May 2025 for a school calendar year of art! Jump in at anytime as the class will spiral and cover different topics weekly! Class Structure: Each class session will feature a blend of structured instruction and open-ended exploration, allowing children to balance creative freedom with foundational learning. I will provide step-by-step guidance while encouraging them to use their imaginations to make their art unique to them. Most of all ---have FUN creating! Each week we will focus on using different supplies and learning new art techniques to make sure that we cover all the Kindergarten Art concepts. Two class favorites are Animal Close Ups and Storybook Art! Kindergarten Art Studio provides a nurturing space where young learners can cultivate their artistic talents, build confidence, and celebrate the joy of creative expression while connecting with friends from all over! I love creating a place for my students to connect and explore all things art! ---My 5-7 year old class we start talking about Elements of Art and famous artist's and their styles. ---My 8-12 year old class dives into deeper concepts and techniques while keeping an Art Journal as well. National Core Arts Standards (NCAS)
For kindergarten art education, the NCAS generally focus on the following areas:
Creating: Kindergarten students should be encouraged to engage in various artistic activities such as drawing, painting, sculpting, and collage making. They explore different art materials and techniques to express their ideas and feelings.
Presenting: Students learn to share their artwork with others, discussing their creative process and what inspired them. They may learn how to display their artwork in an organized and respectful manner.
Responding: Kindergarteners begin to develop an appreciation for art by observing and discussing various works of art. They learn to describe what they see in artwork and express their opinions and interpretations.
Connecting: Students make connections between art and other subjects, as well as between art and their own lives. They may explore how art is used in different cultures and historical contexts.
Meet the teacher
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there! My name is Kristi! I am a homeschool teacher and an art teacher in Texas! I have 2 children that are in 11th & 7th grade this next year! I absolutely love being involved in my kids education!
I am the owner of Wolf Circus Art Studio and Evolve Volleyball Club. I teach art classes for Pre-K to 6th grade, host art parties, teach macrame, and make pottery. I have been teaching art lessons for over 10 years and I love connecting with children through art! I have experience teaching lessons in a private art studio setting as well as summer camps and online.
I also am the Art & Crafts Director for a non-profit called Salute the Kids. Salute the Kids is a charity that supports military children and families through camping adventures. I create and teach all of the arts and crafts projects and host a family art night at camp. Working with military children is such a gift.
I am so excited to be here on Outschool with the opportunity to teach, connect, and create some really cool art with your artist! I most certainly know I will learn and be inspired by them as well!
When I am not teaching you can find me hanging out with my family, making pottery, playing volleyball, taking care of my cacti, or trying to talk my husband into rescuing another Chihuahua. You can never have too many Chihuahuas ;) I have 5 now!
Hope to see you in class!!
Mrs. Kristi
