This ongoing class is wonderful for science lovers who love getting their hands dirty. In this ongoing class students will engage in learning about various science-related topics. Each week will be complete with an interactive lesson introducing the topic of the week on Tuesday followed by a live hands-on experient on Thursday! Week 1: Science of Colors Week 2:Planets and Moons Week 3:Solids, Liquids, and Gases Week 4: The Water Cycle
What are colors? How are different colors made? How to mix colors? What are the planets? Characteristics of Planets What is a solid? What is a liquid? What is a gas? Changes in matter What is the water cycle? Evaporation Condensation Precipitation
Week 1: Science of Colors Day 1 Cookies at least 6 White icing Red ,yellow, and blue food coloring Plate and spoon Day 2 6 clear cups Water red yellow and blue food coloring paper towels Week 2: Planets and Moons Day 1 -circular coffee filter -washable markers -spray bottle w/ water Day 2 : -1 cup of flour -cereal bowl -2-3 small balls (golf ball, tennis ball, bouncy ball, ping-pong ball, etc. Any kind of ball can be used that will fit in your child's hand) Week 3: Solids, Liquids, and Gases Day 1 -1 tsp. baking soda -balloon (not blown up) -plastic water bottle filled 1/3 with Day 2 -plastic water bottle filled 1/3 with water -vegetable oil (can also use baby oil or olive oil) -food coloring -Alka-Seltzer tablet Week 4: The Water Cycle Day 1 -clear, Ziploc bag (sandwich size) -black, permanent marker -food coloring -adhesive tape Day 2 -large mixing bowl -mixing spoon -1 cup cornstarch -1/2 cup hair conditioner (scented or unscented, any kind will do, although I love to use smell good scents!)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
