In this class, students will learn 8 basic yoga poses. Each week students will receive explicit instruction in the pose and be provided time to practice the pose. Students will also learn a breathing technique each week that can help them feel calm when they are overwhelmed with emotions. Students will practice this breathing technique in class. I have extensive experience in social emotional learning and yoga practice including responsive classroom training.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will need an open workout space, proper footwear, and adequate stretching beforehand. Injuries can occur if not properly supervised during class.
I will read aloud the story "We Do Yoga" by Marcie Aboff, "Calming Down" by Keith and Sarah Kortemartin, and "Jenny Loves Yoga" by Milo Pear.
