Description
Class Experience
Students will explore beat-keeping, song-tales, tempo, singing, loud and soft, fast and slow, singing vs speaking, long and short, and high and low in this beginner music class.
I am a certified public school teacher with 15 years of experience in the music classroom. I am also a Nationally certified Kodaly educator, and I have some Orff and Dalcroze experience as well.
While I love for my friends to continue exploring and making music when they're not in class, homework will never be given or required.
Ideally, all students would have access to a shaker (a plastic easter egg, or an altoids container with a little dry rice put in it and taped closed works great!), a pair of un-sharpened pencils or short dowel rods, a long ribbon or scarf/bandana, and a small drum, but we can make do without if you are unable to get any of these things. There will be body movement in this class as well, so having a water bottle handy, and space to move around in is also helpful, but this is NOT a Physical Education class; movement will be exploratory and not strenuous.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
There will be many learning experiences in this class that involve animal noises and animal sounds, including bear and lion roars. For students who are sensitive to loud sounds, I will make sure to warn ahead-of-time, that we will be making a loud sound.
