Class Experience

In this class students will discover that communicating with kindness helps us to build good relationships with others. When we have good relationships with one another, everyone wins.

We will read about and discuss the importance of using kind words, showing tact, showing empathy, and thinking before you speak.

I have written stories to illustrate these concepts. After reading these stories, we will answer questions and share ideas on the best ways to respond to the scenarios. Everyone is free to share their opinions.

If there is time a song might be included, but singing is always optional!

Learning Goals

The goal is to develop awareness of free expression that integrates the values of collaboration and kindness.

Words create worlds and that is why communication is so important. After all, it's how we relate to one another, and it’s how we accomplish our goals.

I bring forth my gifts into the world with my work as a writer, English language coach, curriculum developer, and reading tutor. I like to incorporate personal development and practical skills into whatever I am teaching. Whether it's ESL, reading, writing or life skills - I try to bring home the message that healthy communication (both with ourselves and with others) is very important.

I have a B.A. in Journalism with a minor in Spanish and a Master's in Education. I am a mindfulness practitioner and lifelong learner. I've homeschooled my two children since 2015.

My Teaching Philosophy

Everyone has gifts and talents that they bring to the table. Some find these gifts easily and others don’t. But the key is that we all need to be taught in a way that reflects our internal needs. When learning is centered around the learner, then miracles happen. My job is to guide people to their own inner genius.
