After story time, students will participate in a discussion about kindness and run through some scenarios designed to help continue the kindness discussion. Students will interact with myself and other students as we also work on some quick activities to promote kindness. At the end of class, we will make a kind wand using construction paper, sticks,...
My husband and I began fostering in 2014. As part of the process to become approved we had to participate in extensive training. After initial training, we participate in monthly training and certifications which include behavior management, de-escalation practices, and many more. In 2016, we adopted our two sons. Our youngest has sensory processing disorder and autism. We've participated in many different types of therapies and training so that we could best help our son meet his mental health, occupational therapy, and physical health needs. During this time, we learned many tips and exercises to help not only our son but many of our foster children. Since then, I have incorporated many of these exercises and other tools in homeschool based classes and tutoring sessions. Kindness is a skill that can be learned at any age but my goal is to help facilitate the learning at a young age in order to help build upon other skills such as empathy and integrity.
