Description
Class Experience
Bakers will learn how to read a recipe and bake delicious Red Velvet Crinkle cookies. First, we will read over my favorite Red Velvet Crinkle cookie recipe and have a short discussion and answer questions before we move on. I will teach the bakers tips for properly measuring ingredients, making sure all ingredients are well incorporated, how long to preheat the oven, and other cookie baking basics. Bakers will need to chill dough for at least 2 hours before baking, so I will instruct them on...
I have been baking cookies for over 20 years. I have baked several thousand cookies over the years for personal customers, for gifts, events, and gift shops/cafes.
**Please have all "Learner Supply List" items ready to go before class begins** After chilling cookie dough for 2 hours, bakers will roll in confectioner sugar, bake, and upload picture of finished product. Immediately following the completion of the class, bakers will clean up their workspace and dishes.
Tools: Apron (optional) at least 2 baking sheets parchment paper or some other non-stick liner 1 rubber spatula and 1 metal spatula 1 cereal spoon 1 butterknife hand or stand mixer large and medium-size bowls mesh strainer or wire whisk small ice cream scoop measuring cups and spoons plastic wrap oven mitts or pot holders 2-3 cooling racks Ingredients: butter granulated sugar eggs flour unsweetened cocoa powder baking powder baking soda salt vanilla extract lemon juice buttermilk or I can instruct you on how to make your own red food color *Optional: white, milk, or dark chocolate chips* confectioner sugar
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Bakers may need parental guidance if they are not experienced in using a hot oven.
