As we review our recipes for the 3 cookies we will bake, bakers will learn how to read recipes and learn tips for properly measuring ingredients. I will teach them to make sure all ingredients are well incorporated, how long to preheat the oven, and other cookie baking basics. In our last meeting, we will learn how to decorate our sugar cookies. While we wait for the cookies to bake, we will get to know a little bit about each other and I will answer any questions bakers may have regarding...
I have been baking cookies for over 20 years. I have baked several thousand cookies over the years for personal customers, for gifts, events, and gift shops/cafes.
Each baker will be required to clean up all workspaces and dishes used associated with this class.
4 files available upon enrollmentApron (optional) at least 2 baking sheets parchment paper or some other non-stick liner 1 rubber spatula and 1 metal spatula 2 cereal spoons 1 butterknife hand or stand mixer large and medium-size bowls small bowl mesh strainer or wire whisk small ice cream scoop measuring cups and spoons butter shortening granulated sugar brown sugar eggs flour food coloring evaporated milk cream of tartar baking soda salt cinnamon confectioners sugar chocolate chips oven mitts or pot holders 2-3 cooling racks **** Ingredients and tools will vary with each recipe ****
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Since bakers will need to use the oven, parents should be available to supervise or assist if needed. However, parents will need to remain off camera per Outschool policy. *If this class does not have a minimum of 3 students enrolled 48 hours before the class is scheduled to begin, it will be canceled or changed to a later date.
