Description

Class Experience

In this club, students will spend time exploring various literary devices, types of poetry and learn about important poets for children. They will discuss and interpret poetry as well as write their own. Each week, there will be a new mini-lesson about a famous poet or poem followed by a group discussion about the topic. Then, students will practice writing their own poems. Poetry is, by nature, open for interpretation and can feel intimidating to kids. The goal of this class is to make...

Students will explore literary devices as used in poetry.
Students will become familiar with famous children's' poets.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
