Your child should finish this class with a delicious chicken pot pie (or vegetarian) in the oven as I take them through the step-by-step process from setting up their cooking station to baking their pie.

Class experience

Students will practice planning and preparation before undertaking their task. They will also practice cleaning up after themselves. They will learn basic culinary skills such as using an egg wash, proper salt technique, and baking skills. Students may have the opportunity to apply basic math skills such as addition and fractions.
Cooking is a great tool to focus your child’s attention and help them be creative and productive. I also feel that children need and want to learn responsibility. The kitchen is a fun and creative way for your child to practice creativity while learning responsibility. This pot pie is easy enough for your child to make again and it’s a great way for them to share in the family meal or with someone in need. What neighbor wouldn’t love to find a homemade pot pie on their doorstep?

Parental supervision is a necessity, even if the child does not require assistance. Also, the recipe may be modified to be gluten-free, vegetarian, or use a different protein, such as beef instead of chicken. Notes are provided for the appropriate substitution.
