Description
Class Experience
This lesson will teach students how to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch in their own kitchens! We will have a brief discussion on the importance of these safety rules to follow in the kitchen: always wash your hands before and after handling food, and always ask for help from an adult when having to use sharp items such as knives or using hot objects like the oven. I will take the students through the step by step process of what ingredients you need, how to properly measure liquid...
How to make chocolate chip cookies from scratch. Students will learn how to properly follow a recipe, measure liquid and dry ingredients for baking, what ingredients are needed to make chocolate chip cookies, and enjoying the benefits of baking from scratch.
PLEASE make sure you have all supplies before class starts. Supplies needed: Stand mixer or hand mixer or a wooden spoon, a large bowl, a few small bowls, a spatula for scraping the bowls, a spatula for removing cookies from pan, a butter knife, 1/4 cup and 1 cup dry measuring cups, a liquid measuring cup, 1 teaspoon measuring spoon, a cookie scoop (or a tablespoon), cookie sheets, a cookie rack or a flat surface lined with waxed paper to cool cookies on, and an oven. Ingredients needed: 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 cup (2 sticks) butter softened at room temperature, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 3/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 large eggs (preferably at room temperature), 2 cups (12 oz. package) semi-sweet chocolate morsels, non stick cooking spray
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
