Kick-Start Reading Part 2
Class experience
This is part 2 of the Kick-Start Summer Reading Camp. Online classes can be a challenge for younger students, but in my class we will participate by seeing the letters/words, spelling the letters/words, tracing/writing the letters/words, saying & hearing the letters/words. This kinesthetic approach will help them to remember the material so they can progress quickly with reading. Interactive slides will mimic using manipulatives and help those students who need to move to learn. Students...
In the second part of Kick-Start Reading, the learner will be reading a multitude of short vowel words and 8 more sight words using the research based Orton-Gillingham methods. The learner will know how to say, read, and write the next 10 sounds of English. Proper hand placement and letter formation are taught with the sounds to reinforce the learning. The letters sounds learned are: p, ch, u, b, r, f, n, e, s, sh. This class uses phonemic awareness, visual and kinesthetic cues, and multi-sensory activities to help the learner succeed with reading. Lesson 1: Words with CH as in chair. Short vowel U as in umbrella. Lesson 2: Words with B as in bat. Lesson 3: Words with R as in rabbit. Words with F as in fish. Lesson 4: Words with N as in nail. Lesson 5: Short vowel E as in elephant. Lesson 6: Words with S as in sun. Lesson 7: Words with sh as in shoe. Lesson 8: Words with th as in that. Review all sounds from this month.
