Kick Like a Ninja - The Floor Is Lava Kinderkicker Martial Arts

In this short course students will get moving while learning techniques from Karate, Israeli self-defense, Taekwondo and Ju Jitsu. This high energy class teaches age-appropriate self-defense and anti-bullying in a positive environment.

Homework
1 hour per week. Students will be encouraged to practice at home in a safe space for 10 minutes a day.
Assessment
Students will be assessed informally through teacher observation and consistent monitoring throughout class.

Class Experience

Hello Ninjas! If your ready to have fun, and work hard, while learning martial arts, this is the class for you!  In this class we will be incorporating the "floor is lava" theme into agility, martial arts, character development and age appropriate self-defense for beginners through advanced students. Students will be encouraged to work at their own pace and focus on doing their best while learning Israeli Self-Defense, Karate, Brazilian Ju Jitsu, and Tae Kwon Do. "Floor chats" will be incorporated into each class to motivate and inspire character development and develop safety habits. Each class will be organized as follows:

Week One Lesson: Please bring a chair to class!
Warm up
Bear Walk 
Crab Walk
Upper Body Strikes- punches, back fists,and elbow strikes.
Lower Body Strikes - front Kicks, pop up front kicks
Floor Chat - What do I do if a bad guy approaches me?
"Floor is Lava" incorporating techniques from class.
Student Creed - I have Self Discipline

Week Two Lesson: Please bring a large pillow to class that you have permission to step on!
Warm Up
Jumping Drills
Jump Kicks-  jump splits, jump front kick 
Upper Body Strikes - palm heel strikes, chops, punches
Floor Chat - When is it ok for me to do my ninja moves?
"Floor is Lava" incorporating techniques from class
Student Creed - I take responsibility for my actions and my attitude

Week Three Lesson: Please bring a small blanket to class!
Warm Up
Self Defense - bear hugs, turtle position, rock and rolls
Floor Chat - Is it ok to tattle?

Week Four Lesson: Please a chair, a pillow, and a blanket to class.

Students will learn proper technique of specific moves outlined in the syllabus such as upper and lower body strikes, self defense, and character development.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Students will identify "bad guys" as any person that makes them feel uncomfortable. Students will be instructed to only do martial arts if someone is hurting their body. Students will be instructed that their is a difference between tattling and reporting.They will be encouraged to report if the information could help someone stay safe.
Supply List
A open area that is safe, a non-slip floor, and preferably no socks. A chair, large pillow, and blanket, are requested.
