In this ongoing Mixed Martial Arts course students will learn personal safety and anti-bullying techniques based in Karate, Israeli-Self Defense, Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu jitsu, Tae Kwon Do and Boxing.
Class experience
In this ongoing class for all abilities, students will learn how to protect their bodies in a multitude of situations in a fun, energetic class designed to keep students moving and sweating. Students will learn age appropriate self defense taught in a positive environment with each student working at their ability and all students being encouraged to do their best. Students will learn how to protect and focus their bodies, and set healthy goals for life.
Mrs.Braun has been teaching martial arts for over 25 years. She is a second degree Black Belt with a Master's Degree in Education. She is a certified teacher, and a home school mom.
Homework Offered
Students will be encouraged to practice ten minutes a day.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Informal assessments will be made throughout the class to check for understanding.Grades Offered
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Please make sure children are supervised, and clear the area of any objects that could get in the way. Socks are NOT recommended. Content that will be discussed in class may include: Bad guys - anyone who makes you uncomfortable, including people you know and don't know. They can be boys or girls, be kind or mean. Can you say no to an adult? - yes, if they ask you to do something that makes you uncomfortable. Does the way someone looks make them a good or bad guy? - no, people of all colors, smiling, frowning, offering you things you like, can be a bad guy. When should we use martial arts? Only to defend out bodies, we use our martial arts for good. We do not use our martial arts when we are mad. We practice self control to always deescalate a situation. Now that I know martial arts, is it my job (the student) to fight an intruder? No, your job is always to get yourself to safety, let the adults handle the intruder.
