Class Experience

In this class, students will add to their ability to communicate in Indonesian. We will add vocabulary relating to daily activities and hobbies. We will learn how to share our likes and dislikes relating to activities and relate our typical schedule.
I will use visual aids, body movement, comic strips, and dialogues with puppets to teach students new vocabulary and how to deepen their communication. This class will involve lots of interaction and repetition to help students master the vocabulary and be able to begin communicating in Indonesian. The emphasis in this class will be on understanding spoken Indonesian, and then speaking it. Learners will be expected to try interacting and communicating from the very beginning. I will reassure students that mistakes are part of the learning process and create a safe and nurturing environment to try new things.
This class is a follow-up class to Ini Keluargaku: A Conversational Indonesian Class Introducing Families. This class is still at the beginner level, but students should have either taken previous classes or should already know basic greetings and be able to form basic sentences such as "I am eating," as well as other topics covered in previous classes. We will review and build upon these topics.
Students are strongly encouraged to practice new vocabulary outside of class time in order to make good progress.
