Students will learn characteristics of living things, and the names and characteristics of the six kingdoms of life. Students will participate in conversations about each of life's six kingdoms by asking questions, contributing their own findings, synthesizing information, making connections, and summarizing. 

I've been studying science all my life. My father was a renowned herpetologist. As such, I grew up surrounded by animals, plants, and other life forms. I followed my interests in college by studying biology as well as education. I taught middle school science for 21 years, then worked as the middle school science education specialist for the State Department of Education in Alabama for 6 years. In retirement, I am still actively involved in many scientific communities, and stay engaged with groups such as the North American Association for Environmental Education and the National Science Teachers Association. I am passionate and knowledgeable about the study of life, and about passing on this passion to youngsters.

In some classes I will use YouTube for videos of 2 minutes or less to illustrate lessons.
For illustrations that are otherwise difficult to obtain, I may share my screen to original websites. I will only use websites that are educational, and we will only spend a minute or two on these sites.
