Some students may finish during class time and some may want to continue working after class. I encourage students to draw at their own pace.Class Experience
In this art camp, students will have so much fun as we draw all different types of cute anime and kawaii style characters. We will discuss the use of basic shapes to make characters that are unique for each student. We will look at different ways eye shapes, ear placement, and mouth expressions change the the look and feel of our characters. We will discuss how to visually represent the emotions of happy, sad, grumpy, and angry. Students will practice drawing using a pencil and eraser. Students can also use marker to draw a final outline of their characters. We will end each class with coloring in their creations with markers or colored pencils. Mondays: Anime Penguins Dance Party Tuesdays: Narwhal, Polar Bear, and Seal Winter Solstice Celebration (or choose any winter holiday!) Wednesdays: Upside Down Under Party - Koala and Friends have a Summer BBQ Thursdays: Kawaii Plants: Christmas Cactus, Pine Tree, and Poinsettia Fridays: Food!! Buffet of Amazing Winter Party Foods: Hot Cocoa, Candy Cane, Pie, Gingerbread. My teaching style is enthusiastic, and this camp class is designed to be a fun and supportive environment where students can try new drawing techniques. Students will be encouraged to draw characters from their imaginations. I will be drawing along with students and I can give students suggestions or ideas any time. Students will get a chance to talk about their favorite anime books or shows, and interact with me and with other students. Students can share their artwork at any time during class time, and I will give positive, enthusiastic feedback to each student. Drawing experience and enthusiasm recommended!

Hello! I am an Art Educator and Artist. I love teaching art to all ages, especially elementary school and middle school. My art classes include watercolor painting, acrylic painting, drawing, elementary art projects that work on skill building, and learning about art history through fun projects about artists - including Non-Western and Women artists.
I teach art from my heart and aim to build self esteem in my students through the arts. I challenge students to find their inner artist through creativity and self expression. I believe in the process of art, individual expression, creative thinking, and problem solving. Each art project is designed to develop technical skills, artistic interpretation, and unique artwork. We have lots of fun while making artwork and socializing is encouraged during my art classes.
My art background began as a child. I loved to learn how to paint or draw anything and everything. After receiving a BFA in Graphic Design, I became a children's textile designer in the fashion industry in NYC. While in New York, I attended fine arts classes at the Art Student's League and The New School. I moved to New York State's Hudson Valley, and am inspired daily by the landscapes and nature around me. I also am inspired by my pet cats, who may visit the classroom once in a while.
