Description
Class Experience
Through the guided drawing process, students will learn how to use simple lines and shapes to create up to five different sea creatures, such as an axolotl, a jellyfish, an octopus, a snail, and a seahorse, in Kawaii style. We will discuss the origin of Kawaii style, how it became popular in Japan and spread to the US. My teaching style involves breaking the process down into smaller, easy-to-follow steps. As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
Students will need: Paper (drawing paper is great; sketchbook, or even printer paper will work! Pencil, eraser, pencil sharpener Black Sharpie Choice of coloring tools: colored pencils, crayons, watercolor pencils, or markers.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
