Beginner - Intermediate Level
**PLEASE NOTE** This is a SELF-PACED class and is PRE-RECORDED. THIS MEANS STUDENTS WILL WATCH THE PRE-RECORDED VIDEO. There are no live meetings. All interactions between students and the teacher will happen on the class page.
This class will be presented via pre-recorded demonstration drawings. Students will engage in questions, class discussions on the classroom tab, assignments and be part of an artist critique, which will be guided by the instructor.

Why SELF-PACED?
*MY SELF-PACED classes ALWAYS cost less than the live versions of the same class!
*SELF-PACED classes are an excellent choice for families with busy schedules.
*Content is exactly the same as live classes, at a lower fee.
*Students can work at an independent pace.
*SELF-PACED classes are fantastic for international students whose time zone doesn't match the teacher's (US Mountain Time),
*SELF-PACED classes are a great alternative for students who are uncomfortable with live video chat.

Our SELF-PACED format will be as follows:
Content: Video demonstration of the process will be posted. Videos will vary in length depending on the type of art being presented. Some may be as short as 10 or 15 minutes while others could be ½ hour or more. Student work is expected to take anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour, depending upon the student’s preferred pace.

Content: Weekly videos with a step-by-step breakdown of the art assignments are posted. Videos will vary in length depending on the type of art being presented. Some may be as short as 10 or 15 minutes while others could be ½ hour or more. Student work is expected to take anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour, depending upon the student’s preferred pace.

Drawing Assignments: Students spend time completing their artwork and submit it prior to the next weekly posted assignment.

Submit Assignment: Students are encouraged to post photos of their completed artwork in the classroom on the designated post. Keep in mind, sharing artwork is essential if students require assessment and/or grades.

In this fun, four-week class, students will learn to draw a variety of fun objects in the popular "Kawaii" (Japanese term for "cute") style. Students will learn what the term means, and how to draw the physical characteristics of Kawaii style on each object. No prior drawing experience or knowledge of Kawaii style is necessary!

Detailed information regarding the content of each session can be found in the syllabus.

Once all assignments have been submitted, parents may request a letter or number grade if needed. Students may also receive a certificate of completion after parent has completed a class evaluation.

My teaching style is process-oriented and very laid back. I encourage students to come up with their own ideas and try them out, as well as share ideas with their classmates. My classes are a safe place for students to take risks and even fail, as that is how we learn. I never expect my students to finish their art by the end of the class period; I want them to work at a pace that is comfortable to them, and if they need time after class has ended to finish their projects, I prefer they take that time.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the origin and style of Kawaii art.
Students will use basic lines and shapes to create several drawings in Kawaii style.

As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
