US Grade 3 - 6
- This is an ongoing class so each week we will read different sections of the book, and then I will set tasks. Learners have plenty of time to complete their tasks, and present their work to each other. As these are ongoing classes, each session stands alone, so learners do not need any prior knowledge about the book. - Percy Jackson is a series of books, and each week I chose a section which is appropriate for the focus for that week. - Each week we will look at different sections of the book. After a brief discussion learners create their own imaginative pieces of work, with a different focus each week. - We begin by reading a section from the books, and then we will discuss the focus for that week. Every leaner gets the opportunity to read the text, and to comment on the it, generating ideas for their work, whilst I guide and assist every learner individually. I encourage learners to present their creative pieces at the end. - Pre-prepared slides are planned by me. I start the class by asking each learner to read from a section of the slides. I then set tasks. - My teaching style is that I have always tried to keep my classes as fun as possible, throughout my 20 years of teaching. I like to build a good rapport with my learners, and I want them to feel as comfortable as possible, during my classes. - I like learners to interact as much as possible with both me and other learners. When we are beginning each task I encourage learners to read from the slides, and ask questions. Learners work independently when they are doing their tasks. Once they have completed the tasks, I ask that learners share their work. Learners have created their own little communities in my other classes, catching up with each other during each class. This is great to see, and I wholeheartedly encourage this. - This is an ongoing course, so learners are welcome to attend whichever sessions they want. Each session stands alone, so no previous experience or knowledge is required. Just bring your imaginations, and your enthusiasm!
