Class Experience

Students will work individually to play a Kahoot! game that reviews 4th-grade mathematics skills. No lesson will be explicitly taught, however, the teacher will go over missed questions when the majority of the group gets a math question wrong. Students may also ask questions during/after the game. There will be no formal lecture, as this is a game-based class. Students should be fairly comfortable with the skills reviewed, as listed below.

Skills Reviewed:
-Solving problems involving measurements and units of measurements
-Interpret data and select an appropriate line plot/graph
-Determining appropriate measurements
-Determining angle size (i.e. less than or greater than 90°)
-Identifying parallel and perpendicular lines
-Comparing fractions (creating common denominators)
-Adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators
-Use visual fraction models to write equations
-Identify number patterns and numbers that continue a pattern
-Comparing values of digit places

**Note on ages:
-The ages were selected based of the general age of a 4th-grade student. If your student is younger, but working at a 4th-grade level, that is fine! If your student is older but needs to review 4th-grade skills, that is fine as well.

In the game of Kahoot! points are awarded based on time and accuracy. For example, if everyone gets the question correct, students are awarded points if they selected the answer faster. Students will need to open a webpage, and type in Kahoot.it and then type in a game code. The Kahoot! app may also be used on a handheld device. Please have the app downloaded prior to class, if that is the route you choose to go.
