Looking for on-going, one-on-one tutoring for your child? Join me as we tackle homework in reading, math, social studies, science, or language arts. This class is perfect for students needing support with their subjects after school hours! With individualized attention, I will help identify and address areas of difficulty, provide immediate feedback, and adapt teaching methods to suit your child's learning style. I want to increase BOTH their confidence and understanding so that they can do well in school! This is also a good opportunity for students to learn study skills because it can instill valuable habits that extend beyond homework and into their academic futures. This course is for elementary students grades 1-5 needing assistance with their math, reading, social studies, science, and language arts assignments! My 1:1, private tutoring sessions will help your child received individualized attention on their homework that they otherwise may not be getting either at home or in the classroom. I'm here to answer their questions, guide them through the directions of each assignment, and encourage them to do their best work! Examples topics/themes I help with: Mathematics: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, geometry, measurement, and problem-solving strategies. Language Arts: Reading and reading comprehension, phonics, vocabulary development, grammar, punctuation, spelling, writing skills, and creative storytelling. Science: Basic scientific concepts, such as the properties of matter, life cycles, ecosystems, weather and climate, and the scientific method. Social Studies: Geography, history, civics, cultures, community studies, maps and globes, and current events. IMPORTANT! Each tutoring session is 45 minutes. I do not use a specific curriculum, since the majority of the time will be spent working through your child's assignments from school. However, I do use supplementary resources, flashcards, videos, and worksheets if requested for a specific subject. Here is a break-down of what a session typically looks like: Warm-up (5 minutes): Engage with a brief review of previous learning or a fun, educational activity related to the subject./ I do my best to set a positive tone for the session and mentally prepare the student for the tasks ahead. Working Through Assignments (25 minutes): Address homework assignments, starting with any challenging tasks or concepts./Provide guidance and support as the student completes their assignments, offering explanations, examples, and step-by-step assistance as needed./Encourage the student to ask questions and actively participate in problem-solving. Taking Breaks and Playing Games (10 minutes): We will take short breaks to prevent fatigue and maintain focus./Will introduce educational games or activities related to the subject matter, reinforcing key concepts in a playful manner./Games include flashcards or online learning platforms with interactive quizzes. Practicing Important Concepts/ Review (5 minutes): There will be time at the end of the session for targeted practice of concepts covered during the tutoring session./I offer feedback and encouragement to the student to reinforce progress. Students should have basic phonemic awareness, be able to recognize letters and letter sounds, have pre-reading skills (left-to-right progression, understanding spaces between words), and have an interest in reading. Students should also have had exposure to basic vocabulary, be willing to engage and participate, follow instructions, and have the ability to focus on short reading tasks. Please let me know your child's current grade level and the reason why you're interested in tutoring for him/her. I can't wait to meet you and to begin tutoring sessions! *Please contact me if there are no times available that fit your schedule. I'm happy to help!

Hello! My name is Veronica and I'm a mother of four children, wife, and teacher. After graduating from college in 2016, I worked in communications and marketing for two years. After having my third child, I branched out into teaching where I discovered the opportunity to educate children through online ESL teaching! Since 2019, I've been teaching ESL online to students ages 4-15. I'm TEFL and TESOL certified, worked as both a substitute teacher and paraprofessional, and have also homeschooled my own children going on 5 years.
As a dedicated teacher specializing in English language arts, writing, and reading for grades K-5, I create a motivating and inspiring space where every student feels valued. My goal for each lesson is to create a love for learning, ensuring each child is encouraged, welcomed, and empowered. Let's collaborate in nurturing your child's mind and building a foundation for lifelong success. See you soon!
