In this summer camp, students will develop knowledge of the structure of words through phonological awareness, printed concepts, phonics, and morphology to communicate, decode and write in Spanish.

Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Demonstrate phonological awareness by: Identifying and producing rhyming words Recognizing spoken alliteration or groups of words beginning with The same simple syllable or initial sound Identifying individual words in a spoken sentence Identify syllables in spoken words Mix syllables to form multisyllables Segment multisyllables into syllables Identify leading and trailing sounds in simple words Mix spoken phonemes to form syllables Manipulate syllables in a multisyllabic word Demonstrate and apply phonetic knowledge by: Identify and associate common sounds that letters represent; Use letter-to-sound to decode single- and dual-syllabic words and multisyllabic words, including CV, VC, CCV, CVC, VCV, CVCV, CCCV and CVCCV; Demonstrate awareness of print by: Identify the front cover, back cover, and title page of a book; Holding a book right side up, turning the Pages correctly and know that reading moves from top to bottom.Down and from left to right, with a return movement in the next line Recognize that sentences are made up of words separated by spaces and recognize word boundaries; recognize the difference between a letter and a printed word; and identify all uppercase and lowercase letters. Develop writing by accurately forming all uppercase and lowercase letters using appropriate directionality.
Certified Dual-Language teacher and Native Spanish teacher.
Students will be given optional homework to practice common phrases, letters, and days of the week.
2 hours 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
