Description

Class Experience

Students will be able to analyze through journaling and exploration, they will learn how to use prediction to form their hypothesis, and students will be able to explain how they got to their results. 
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Early Childhood Special Education. I have taught in a Preschool classroom for over 5 years as well as in a Kindergarten and First Grade classroom for another 5 years.  
Week of Sept 12 : Plants & plant function, animals, and habitats
--Plant project & Journal (started in class and finished at home)
 
Week of Sept 19: Classification of different animals and their habitats
--Animal habitat project (started in class and finished at home)
 
Week of Sept 26: Distinguish between living and nonliving things 
--Venn diagram project (started and finished at home)
 
Week of Oct 3: Earth and space science 
--Solar system project (started in class and finished at home)
 
Week of Oct 10: States of matter 
--Solid, liquid, gas experiment & journal (started and finished at home)
 
Week of Oct 17: Types of light & sound energy 
--Music & shadow project (started in class and finished at home)
 
Week of Oct 24: Water cycle and weather 
--Water cycle project and experiment + journal (started and finished at home)
 
Week of Oct 31: Wrap up, review project presentation

With an adult, access to a computer to use Google Classroom. You will need to either use blank pieces of paper and take a picture to upload your work or be able to have access to a printer and print the work to complete.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will be assessed based on their project submissions. This is submitted and found on their Google Classroom. 
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
In this class, during the Week of Sept 26, we discuss Living and Non-living things. This is in relation to objects and animals. This may prompt learners to ask deeper questions at home regarding what Living and Non-living things are. Also, I will be using Google Classroom as a way to see your Scientists experiments and findings.
