What's included
Class Experience
The weekly video lesson will include a Jazz dance warm-up and stretch. Jazz technique will then be taught. New choreography will be taught each week to "Just Dance" by Lady Gaga! This fun Jazz Dance routine will be accomplished by the end of the 4 weeks. A new video will be posted every Monday morning, giving the dancers a whole week to learn the new choreography! I request the dancers post a video to the classroom for everyone to share their progress. The other learners and I will provide feedback through the classroom. FLEX classes allow you to participate in class at your own convenience at any day or time. Week 1: Warm-up, stretch and Jazz technique. We then learn the new choreography for the week. It will usually be about 2 or 4 eight counts as to not overwhelm the dancers in the first week. The dancers are requested to post a video to the classroom to show their progress. The other learners and I will provide feedback to the dancer through the classroom. Week 2: Warm-up, stretch and Jazz technique. I will review the choreography from the prior week and go over corrections from the dancer's video submissions. We then learn the new choreography. It will usually be about 2 or 4 eight counts. The dancers are requested to post a video to the classroom to show their progress. The other learners and I will provide feedback to the dancer through the classroom throughout the week. Week 3: Warm-up, stretch and Jazz technique. I will review the choreography from the prior week and go over corrections from the dancers' video submissions. We then learn the new choreography for the week. It will usually be about 2 or 4 eight counts. The dancers are requested to post a video to the classroom to show their progress. Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Manhattanville Colege
I have been teaching all forms of dance for 32 years! I am a 1991 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Manhattanville College with a minor in Dance. While there, I focused on Jazz, Ballet, and Modern. I even performed in the Soviet Union in 1989!
I opened my dance school at the age of 23 and still love it! I teach all ages Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe and Modern. My true specialty is Jazz. I love the energy and unique creativity available though Jazz Dance.
Dance class is more than just "dance". It teaches grace, poise, discipline and self confidence. All qualities that will benefit a student in all areas of their lives.
I have been happily married for 24 years and have a 19 year old son who is a sophmore at Fairfield University. He even competed in Jazz and Hip Hop until 7th grade when soccer took over!
I'm looking forward to sharing my knowledge and love of dance with the Outschool Community.
