This beginner tap class will be conducted like a regular dance class, in my own home. We will start off getting to know everyone, next we will do a tap warm-up, we will learn some tap terminology and have center time, learn across the floor combinations and learn choreography at the end of class. We will also incorporate a choreography activity game at the end of class if time permits! *Duration of warm-up, choreography, game may vary do to student participation. Length of routine may vary depending on ability of majority to pick up choreography. *All music is age appropriate and goes with our theme. *Choreography learned will be of my own creation. *Great option for those that homeschool looking for arts or P.E. option or looking for extracurricular activity for after school or weekends!
Learning Goals
Your child will learn basic tap steps and practice using the stage by across the floor combinations. Student will learn choreography which is great practice as well! If your child has not taken tap before that is fine, this will be a nice introduction to tap and a great class for those who already have some tap experience!
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Make sure your child is taking class in a safe space in a clear area where they can extend their arms out side to side and front and back. Also, make sure your child has water nearby and wears comfortable clothing.
Supply List
Tap shoes are not required but certainly welcome. You can use sneakers or you can be barefoot. Make sure you are not on a slippery surface and if you have a board, that can be used as well. You can always use cardboard to tap on or if you have a wooden board you can use that as well. Students should wear comfortable clothing or if your child has dance clothes (leotard and tights) that is preferred but not mandatory. Make sure to bring water to class and make sure you have your area cleared to stay safe.
