Feedback and encouragement will be given throughout the lesson! Students are encouraged to attach video or photos of your student practicing the routines or exercising!Class Experience
Each week I will lead a warm-up, which includes stretching and fun exercises for about 15 minutes. Choreography will also be taught each week and by the end of the fourth week your student will have learned 4 routines in the style of Hip-Hop, Ballet, Tap and Jazz. Each Monday I will attach a 40-45 minute video that includes the whole lesson for the week! FLEX classes allow you to take the class when it is convenient for you, anytime or any day! Coloring sheets will also be provided each week along with other fun dance worksheets! Week 1: We will start off with Hip-Hop! During this class we will warm-up and stretch. Students will learn a few hip-hop moves and I will teach an upbeat routine. Week 2: This week we will focus on Ballet. Bring a sturdy chair or something from your home so we can do a bar warm-up. (Sturdy table, side of a couch, if you have a ballet bar you can bring that as well.) We will then do ballet exercises in “center”, across the floor, then I will teach a ballet routine at the end of class. Week 3: This week we will focus on Tap. If you do not have tap shoes that is ok, you can use sneakers or you can be barefoot. If you have tap shoes that is of course fine just make sure you are aware of the surface and not dancing on a slippery surface. If you have cardboard you can tape that down to the floor if you have tile, or if you have a smooth piece of wood you want to tap on. Safety is key. (I will be using a tap board so they can hear my sounds) We will do a tap warm-up, across the floor exercises and learn a routine. Week 4: This week we will end with Jazz. We will do a warm-up, we will do stretches and do across the floor exercises. At the end of class we will learn a routine. This week the students will be requested to create their own piece to any style of dance they choose to any age-appropriate song for at least 8 counts to share with the class. Feel free to dress up in costume for the video! (Only positive feedback/comments will be allowed!) *Duration of warm-up, choreography, game may vary do to student participation. Length of routine may vary depending on ability of majority to pick up choreography. *All music is age appropriate and goes with our theme. *Choreography learned will be of my own creation. *Great option for those that homeschool looking for arts or P.E. option or looking for extracurricular activity for after school or weekends!
