Just Breathe! Mindful Breathing Exercises for Young Children

Young learners will learn several breathing techniques that they can practise with us, then apply in their daily life. We will use visuals, daily objects, imagination as well as drawing, playdough and practical, simple breathing techniques.

Class Experience

Students will practise:
-  identifying emotions using visuals;
-  calming strategies;
-  mindfulness strategy;
- breathing techniques;
- simple breathing exercises;
-  positive affirmations strategies.
HELLO THERE!

My name is Bella, and I am a certified teacher. I have taught in inclusive schools as well as behaviour schools for 20 years. I have always taught a variety of children with different disabilities, especially autistic and ADHD students. Teaching children direct strategies and techniques to manage their emotions has always been part of classroom management, and I used to do this at least once a day at circle time in my school. 

I also hold a second degree in Social Work (2004) and a Level 3 Diploma in Children's Psychology (2019).
In addition, I have attended the following courses:

I have a daughter who is autistic, a husband who is dyslexic and has ADHD. I resigned from teaching in public schools three years ago, and I started tutoring and doing interventions for autistic and ADHD children from my home and also online. I also teach ukulele and guitar on Outschool.

My classes are fun, interactive, small groups of children where each child finds their voice and shines bright! 
No homework is necessary.
Learners will need: - a few sheets of paper and pens/markers; - play dough; - bubbles (a small bottle please). (Please make sure your learner is doing the class in a place they can blow bubbles, or talk to them before the class what the rules in your household are, regarding blowing bubbles indoors-outdoors).
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
*** Please note that students can't engage in direct conversation sharing personal feelings and experiences related to their emotions. If you notice that your child's microphone is on, and they start sharing something like that, then I will have to mute them, and they can continue the conversation with you, if you chose so.
