Description

Class Experience

Students will read Junie B. Jones and Some Sneeky Peeky Spiyng.
Students will answer comprehension questions.
Students will discuss the book during class.
Students will complete science activities each week.
I have a Masters in Education degree from Azusa Pacific University. I have a current teaching credential to teach all K-8 subjects, Reading Endorsement, K-12 music, and K-12 ESL. I have taken additional workshops on how to teach reading and writing to elementary students. I have taught reading and writing in public schools, private schools, and at homeschool co-ops over the past 20 years.
Students will need to read the chapter assigned before class. Students will also need to answer the comprehension questions for the chapter each week. The chapters are about 10 pages each week. There will be 7 comprehension questions to answer.
Each week students will need a few supplies. There will be reminders in the classroom as well. Week 1: pen or pencil and the worksheet printed out Week 2: lemon juice, cotton swab, blank paper Week 3: ink pad, paper Week 4: paper cup, toilet paper cardboard tube, scissors, markers Week 5: plastic water bottle, rice to fill bottle, things to put in to find in rice, funnel (optional) Week 6: print out of secret decoder, fastener Week 7: tape, paper (a different color than your cornstarch or cocoa powder), paintbrush, cornstarch or cocoa powder, lotion Week 8: seltzer water to fill the glass, see through glass, handful of grapes or raisins Week 9: watercolor set, cup of water, paintbrush, white crayon, blank white paper
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed informally in the discussion.
Students will be assessed by answering the comprehension questions and sending to the teacher. (optional)
Students will assessed informally while completing the science experiments.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Parents should preview the book to see if it is acceptable.
Students will need to obtain a copy of the book, Junie B. Jones and Some Sneaky Peeky Spying by Barbara Park.
