Class Experience

I have been teaching and celebrating Juneteenth for many years. I have taught a few Juneteenth Camps on the Outschool platform and wanted to provide an opportunity and space for young learners to celebrate this American holiday.
Students will be expected to prepare for the class with videos, reading, and coloring sheets
BBQ meal or vegan appropriate entrée
Red dessert or fruit
Red drink
Coloring sheets
Crayons or markers
Juneteenth T-shirt( optional)
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This holiday is based on the emancipation of formerly African descendants in the USA. It is a celebration for all Americans and can be acknowledged by other countries and cultures. The class will not focus on enslavement but on the Juneteenth holiday. Please apprise your students on enslavement in the United States, racism, and the US Civil War. You may want to address any negative emotions that this topic may stir up.
