Learning vowel teams and word families are essential to your learner becoming a superstar reader. Vowel teams are when several letters come together to make one vowel sound like "oo" in cool, spoon, and tooth or "igh" in sigh, night, and flight. Word families are words that end with the same letters and sounds. Words in -at family are cat, bat, mat, and sat. Words in the -in family would be pin, tin, and pin.
