Homework
2-4 hours per week. See homework posted for each week. Week One: Homework: Compose a plan to score high or higher on the SAT and make a summer study plan to reach your college admission plans. Week Two: Homework: Submit a draft of the college admission essay to the instructor for feedback and commentary. Submit college safe, reach and target schools. Week Three: Homework: Submit completed forms for recommendations, extra-curricular activities and scholarships. Week Four: Homework: Submit completed college plan to the instructor.

Class Experience

In this practical four-week summer class learners (for rising juniors and seniors) will prepare for the college admission process. Learners will create their own personalized college admission plans. 
This plan will include how to:
(1)	Devise  a study plan to score high (or higher) on the SAT and ACT. 
(2)	Create a safe, target and reach college list
(3)	Research potential colleges for the “right” fit
(4)	Write a draft of the college admission essay. 
(5)	Adapt time management and study skills to current learning
(6)	Capitalize on the right extracurricular activities
(7)	Standout to colleges so schools ‘want’ you to attend 

Learning Schelude: 

Week One: What colleges want in a candidate and how students can become the ideal applicant. 
Homework: Compose a plan to score high or higher on the SAT and make a summer study plan to reach your college admission plans.

Week Two: How to write a convincing and memorable college admission essay
Homework: Submit a draft of the college admission essay to the instructor for feedback and commentary. Submit college safe, reach and target schools.

Week Three: How to search for legitimate scholarships, research colleges to get the edge in the admissions process and prepare for college interviews.
Homework;: Submit completed forms for recommendations, extra-curricular activities and scholarships.

Week Four: Reviewing personal advisement and future college goals. 
Homework: Submit completed college plan to the instructor.  

Special Notes:
Homeschool students will receive help with their homeschool transcripts in the form of sample homeschool transcripts. 

The instructor is the author of Homeschool College Prep and the designer of the College Admission Planner for athletes and academics.

The instructor holds a certificate in College Admissions from Columbia University (NYC) and has written extensively on college admission. She has guided many students in the college process.

Cheryl Carter is the lead instructor of Collegiate Learning.Cheryl Carter, the writing coach, endearingly known as Professor Cheryl, for the way she methodically targets the stop-blocks that prohibit her clients from moving them ahead in completing their writing projects. Over the years, she has worked with authors writing educational, religion, science, business, and popular culture books. Professor Cheryl knows how to motivate emerging writers to overcome procrastination, literary lags and time constraints. She is the author of an ever-growing number of titles and has been published traditionally and independently. 

Professor Cheryl is also a college professor, who currently teaches English and writing classes. She also teaches creative writing, media and culturally relevant biography classes on Outschool.com. Professor Cheryl has an MFA in Creative Writing and a BA in English. She has also completed graduate study in special education, college admissions and counseling, and is currently a creative writing doctoral student. Professor Cheryl holds a graduate certificate in College Advisement from Columbia University and a TEFL (Teaching English to  certificate. 

A fierce advocate for education empowerment, Professor Cheryl is also the CEO of Collegiate Learning, an academic company that prepares learners for scholastic college success. She has a line of educational books that address ADHD and ELA areas, including writing, vocabulary, critical thinking, reading  and writing. Additionally, Professor Cheryl, a personal historian created the innovative personal history initiative, Family-as-Biographers under her Meaningful Moments books and journals. 
More importantly, Cheryl considers her most important role to be that of homeschool mother. She has five children—three of them homeschool graduates.
